The Castle

Peace and quiet. Recharge your batteries. The perfect family holiday in South Tyrol.

Wolfsthurn Castle is perched on a small hill above Andriano village (South Tyrol), 400 m a.s.l. to be precise, and just 15 minutes‘ walk from the main square in the village. Cars are a rare sight here, making the Castle ideal for a family holiday. Children can play to their heart’s content at the playground on the slide, swing, and in the sandbox and tree house.
Parents can relax in the beautiful garden on different chairs and deckchairs, taking in the beautiful view. And, if you feel the need to go off on an adventure of sorts, simply head into the 30-hectare wood surrounding the farm. As if that weren’t enough, you can also explore  the ruins of an ancient castle! One dog, a rabbit and countless cats
roam the farm and are always up for a good scratch behind the ears or a belly rub. You can also use our bikes for free. Farm produce like wine, apples, bread spreads, fresh spices and vegetables from our garden can also be purchased.

The history of Wolfsthurn Castle in South Tyrol

built by the Lords of Andriano

Wolfsthurn Castle
Wolfsthurn Castle is a small jewel in pristine conditions built in 1280 by the Lords of Andriano.  Its main structure comprises an imposing tower and what at the time was a defensive wall. In the 17th century, the Castle belonged to the Lords von Wolf from Mareit, who also gave the farm its current name.
After the Wolf family died out, the Castle was abandoned and slowly fell into a state of disrepair. The walls were fitted with roofs in the 19th century and the original structure was expanded and built on to become today’s farm. In 1970 it became a hostel, and in 1997  Wolfsthurn was completely renovated, taking a firm step into our modern times.  The Castle is home to the Kripp Family, and also offers two holiday apartments for your South Tyrolean holidays on a farm.
